Weekend
I had such a nice long weekend, you guys, which was a relief, to be honest. The week had its rough patches and it was good to end it on a better note. Josh came over on Saturday and we decided to catch a movie that night, so we went out for dinner and a wander around the mall earlier in the evening. We had a lot of time to kill before the 9pm start, so we went to Goode Brothers for a drink and conversation. I ordered a Bloody Mary and...it came with a bacon strip! I've never had a Bloody Mary, or any drink, served with bacon before. It was nuts and brilliant, and very delicious. Sometimes people overdo the vodka in BMs, but this was very nicely done and had a great kick. Josh got a Monteiths Apricot Wheat Beer which he fell in love with. It smelled amazing and wasn't bad to drink, either. We'd never been to that restaurant/bar before and while it was nice, they were a little overly attentive. We didn't want food since we'd eaten not long before, and it would have been nice to enjoy our drinks in peace, haha. We'll go back though and next time we might actually get food (I'm sure that will please them greatly!) because everything that came out smelled great (it was very tempting to get some bread, but I was good and didn't break my budget).
Later on we went to see Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino's new film, and it was absolutely brilliant. As in, I wanted to clap at the end, which has only happened twice before in my life. It was incredibly funny, had excellent characters, and the score was perfect. It was Tarantino. Obviously there was some serious gore and there were two scenes which I found myself cringing over and having to avert my eyes, which is not really something I do often for film. I can take gore, but the scenes were more than just gore. I can't say any more about that without spoiling things. We loved the whole film, even though it was 3 hours long - I feel like it needed to be, I wouldn't want anything to have been left out for the sake of time. I'm actually going to tentatively say that Django is the best film of 2013.
Yesterday was quieter and we spent much of it catching up on season 6 of The Big Bang Theory. It's not even on TV in New Zealand yet, for God's sake! I remember not long after Josh and I first started dating, I stayed at his house for several days and we spent the time sharing a Laz-e-boy recliner, watching TBBT from the first season, because I hadn't seen much of it. It's still one of our favourite shows and will always bring back those memories of the early days.
Since it's a long weekend, today was the end of it. It was relaxed, which was perfect. We had my eldest nephew over for lunch. He's 15 and awesome. More like a little brother, really. Man, I love that kid to infinity (all of my kiddos, of course). Anyway, this afternoon I half-heartedly reorganised my closet. I hate all my clothes, so there's that.
I'll leave it there, otherwise I'll ramble on and on about random stuff. Plus, it's already 9:30 and I'm not sure how that happened. It's nearly February, too. How?! xo
